All faculty with an interest in pursuing COVID19 research are invited to share their project ideas in hopes of identifying synergies and collaborative opportunities.We will ask everyone to identify their proposed project ideas and in addition, we will answer questions about the special VIURAC COVID 19 Call for Proposals and share a list of other COVID research funding opportunities. With this knowledge, we will be in a better position to support faculty interests as well as coordinate our efforts with agencies, government initiatives and universities in BC.Some areas where VIU faculty may be able to respond quickly include but are not limited to:
- psychosocial impact on vulnerable populations (e.g. frontline healthcare providers, first responders, the elderly, incarcerated persons),
- impact on the local and provincial tourism industry,
- impacts and responses in rural/remote and indigenous populations,
- data modelling of the disease,
- manufacturing of medical supplies including masks, gowns and parts for face shields and ventilators etc., and
- technology, services and innovative supports for distance learning
