arc: Art, Research & Community Institute
arc: A Centre for Art, Research & Community is dedicated to youth-led community-engaged action research that disseminates knowledge through the arts. It is created and run by, for and among youth, including VIU undergraduate and graduate students, to increase youth leadership and capacity development that facilitates cross-cultural relationships with local Indigenous, non-Indigenous, and international communities.

Centre for Health and Environmental Mass Spectrometry (CHEMS)
The Applied Environmental Research Laboratories (AERL) at Vancouver Island University (VIU) has become an internationally recognized centre for innovation in the development and application of real-time mass spectrometry techniques, primarily aimed at environmental diagnostics.
