Public EducationStation Tours

The station has an exciting public education program that provides interpretation on several themes.  We have both guided and self-guided tours of the station.  Visitors can see a wide variety of local species in our aquariums and touch tanks, see our research scientists at hard at work in their labs from our viewing mezzanine, or explore the wetland habitat adjacent to the station.

Hours

The station is closed for the season (September to April). Public drop-in is available May 1 to August 31.

Admission Rates

The cost of admission to the station is:

Adults (18+)           $ 12.00

Students (6 -17)    $ 6.00           

Children (up to 5)   Free  

Guided Tour Rates

The Deep Bay Marine Field Station is committed to the promotion of ecologically sustainable development and marine conservation. Join our knowledgeable guides as they discuss features of our green building, marine conservation, sustainable seafood and more in interactive group tours of the Field Station. These guided tours offer a unique opportunity to acquire firsthand information from the experts themselves. Tours are offered during the offseason (when the station is closed for drop-in visitors) through booking in advance with groups of at least 10 people. Please see the link below to book. Please note: no pets allowed except for certified guide dogs.

  • Children 5 and under free when accompanied by an adult
  • Vancouver Island University students and staff pay student rate upon presentation of student or staff card.
  • Vancouver Island University alumni receive $2 off admission rate upon presentation of alumni card.
  • Elder College participants receive the student price with presentation of student card.
  • Season Passes are available for those who like to visit often!
