Deep Bay Shoreline Cleanup

Come join us on Saturday September 22nd from 9:30am to 12:00pm and help us clean-up the shores of Deep Bay! Meet, here, at the station for instructions at 9:30am and teams will be dispatched around Deep Bay until noon cleaning up debris left from the busy summer months. Afterwards, the station will be open from 12pm to 3pm with FREE admission just for volunteers!  Coffee, tea, and treats will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Lantzville Minetown Day

Come join us in Lantzville for Minetown Day! We will have our touch tank in tow where the kiddos can hang out with their favourite intertidal critters! We will be in Huddlestone Park from 8am to 3pm and hope to see you there!

With Samantha Letourneau, Executive Director of Literacy Central Vancouver Island.  In honour of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada’  Samantha will reflect on this question from her experience, which is rooted in participatory literacy work. Participatory literacy work has everything to do with the primacy of learners’ knowledge, feelings and experience.

George Hanson, President of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA)) will share insights regarding the state of the island economy, where it is headed, and what is being done strengthen, diversify, and sustain economic vitality and opportunity. VIEA is the only regional, non-government, non-profit, economic development organization in Western Canada. Its mandate embraces the entire island, including the gulf islands, and every sector, public and private.’

Community Partner Series: Digital Technology Supercluster Update: Exploring Opportunities for Collaboration

With Paris Gaudet, Capacity Building Programs Lead, Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster. In this session, learn about the status of the new Digital Technology Supercluster organization and its key activity stream – Capacity Building. The focus of this discussion is to start a conversation about what’s possible and explore opportunities for collaboration. The Supercluster Capacity Building initiatives encompass four themes: 1) Diverse Digital Workforce 2) Building the Digital Economy in the Regions 3) Indigenous Digital Skills Training 4) Women in Technology Leadership.
