Pride Week

This week celebrates 2SLGBTQ+ pride to promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, queer and two-spirit people as a social group. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most 2SLGBTQ+ rights movements.

Canada Day

A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of the effective date of the Constitution Act in 1867 (then called the British North America Act), which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single dominion within the British Empire called Canada.

Canadian Multiculturalism Day

The date was dedicated by the Government of Canada in 2002 to celebrate the rich cultural mosaic and recognize the valuable role played by Canadians from all backgrounds in building vibrant and prosperous communities that benefit everyone.

Africa Day

Africa Day is a day to celebrate and acknowledge the successes of the Organisation of African Unity (now the African Union) in the fight against colonialism and apartheid.

Eid-al-Fitr

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. Muslims believe that they are commanded by God, as mentioned in the Quran, to continue their fast until the last day of Ramadan before offering the Eid prayers.

Mothers’ Day

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
