Posters on building with people in front

Poster Session

Traditional Print are your classic idea of a poster printed on paper and hung on a wall. The CREATE poster session will be hosted in the main cafeteria. Posters will be grouped according to topic, theme or class.

All poster types can be either a Research Poster or an Infographic Poster.

We're thrilled to announce that CREATE 2024 student posters will be printed, thanks to the support of our partners and donors! This initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and encourage students to share their projects at CREATE.
Please read carefully the following information and connect with create@viu.ca if you have any questions.

Guidelines:

  • Sizes (if you are printing your poster elsewhere, other smaller sizes are acceptable)
    • Research Posters must be 36" X 48" (either landscape or portrait)
    • Infographics must be 24" x 36" (portrait only)
  • Go for a white background. This will allow us to print more posters at a lower cost.
  • VIU logo must be included. Make sure to review the logo use guide.
  • Make sure to include your name. You can also include class, program, and supervisor.
  • If you are using pictures, make sure you are allowed to use them. Pixabay and Unsplash are two great resources for pics that are free of copyright restrictions. If you have any concerns about your image use, please connect with copyright@viu.ca
  • We will accept PDF files only.

Deadline: To guarantee free printing, poster files need to be emailed to Karen.Hua@viu.ca no later than April 2.

Confirmation: After submitting your poster, you will either receive a confirmation that it is ready to be printed or the file will be sent back to you for review. No files will be accepted after April 4.

Huge thanks to Coastal Community Credit Union for sponsoring CREATE 2024!

What is a Research Poster?

Graphics

Link to VIU logo: For CREATE you can use any of the four listed under CYMK logos. If you are taking your poster to a non-VIU event, use one of the 'full-name' logos.

Using images: The following is from our wonderful copyright folks at the library. For even more good info check out VIU's Student Guide. This Image Source Guide has links to sources for images that are licensed for reuse. For example, Unsplash and Pixabay have very permissive reuse licenses. Note that the Pixabay search also retrieves some Shutterstock images that are not free.
