Sharing Knowledge through Story and Self 

Educator and active community member, John Chenoweth brings a personal perspective to a discussion of knowledge communication and sharing in his academic and public life. He will share an Okanagan story and how he has interpreted, applied, and learned from it in education contexts.  

CREATE is very excited to host Dr. John Chenoweth as its Keynote Speaker 

John Chenoweth is the Vice-President Academic at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, BC's Indigenous Public Post-Secondary Institute. He is a member of the Upper Nicola Band, a Syilx (Okanagan) community living in the Nicola Valley. To learn more about the Upper Nicola Band, please click here.  John is a fabulous educator and holds a PhD in Education from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. He has been involved in First Nations education at both the K-12 and post-secondary levels for his entire career. His research interests include marginalized people within education and Indigenous education. John also serves as a School Board Trustee and a Director for the British Columbia School Trustees Association. A big VIU welcome to John!
